New York wanted to trade Derrick Rose but fell short.

The #New York Knicks seemed to be really wanting to trade its point guard #Derrick Rose at this year's NBA trade deadline. They engaged in talks with the #Minnesota Timberwolves but came up short, and Rose won't be changing clubs, at least for now. However, if the Knicks really want to get rid of Rose - they can easily do exactly that in the upcoming postseason.

Reportedly, New York and Minnesota did really into it, but nothing happened. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Knicks proposed a deal which would see Rose being traded to the Timberwolves in exchange for point guard Ricky Rubio.

But, the Timberwolves weren't interested in the one-for-one offer made by the Knicks.

Back in the summer of 2016, the New York Knicks made a deal with the Chicago Bulls - which saw them getting Rose. Since Rose is on a one-year deal - which expires when the season ends - the two sides could easily be parting ways. The summer is not that far away.

Will D-Rose play for another team next season?

On Wednesday, Adrian Wojnaworski of The Vertical claimed that the #New York Knicks were open to getting rid of #Derrick Rose. ''The sense I've gotten from talking to other teams who've spoken to New York is they feel like the Knicks would almost give away [Rose] right now,'' Wojnarowski said, according to Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk.

Hearing this points only to one scenario - that Rose won't be wearing a Knicks jersey in the 2017/2018 season.

However, Rose won't be losing his job in the NBA. He is still a good player, who can give a contribution to a team in the world's best basketball league. So far this year, Rose has averaged 17.7 points, 4.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.

There is no any doubt that there will be teams interested in Rose's services in the offseason.

Also, a thing which should be noted is that Rose could still end up in Minnesota. Tom Thibodeau, the head coach of Minnesota, coached Rose for many years in Chicago and still likes him. It remains to be seen what will happen with Rose in the summer.
