The Jacksonville Jaguars had one of the best drafts in the NFL last year. Not only did they pick up a great talent in Jalen Ramsey, but they also had a draft that filled their needs. After another bad season this year, the team is now looking to the 2017 draft as something that they want to build on for the future. They have another high pick, and the question is now surrounding their quarterback. Is Blake Bortles the quarterback of the future? If he is, do they have the firepower they need around him to make a run at a division title?
The AFC South is a bad division, and many people think that the Jaguars should be winning at a higher level with the competition they have.
Although the Texans won the division this year, the Titans were only one game away from winning it. Going forward, the Jaguars must make some positive moves in the offseason in order to stay competitive.
Offensive issues
The biggest problem for the Jaguars this year was around their offense. A lot of people get bored watching their games because they have basic offense in moving the football.
Many people today are excited about all of the changes that have been made to the team, but it must start panning out with wins. After all of the issues that have happened in the past couple of seasons, many fans are starting to get restless. It has been at least a decade, if not more, since the team was in a legitimate discussion for a deep playoff run or the Super Bowl.
Over time, this is something that the team must address in order to keep fans in the stands.
Elite talent
With a team like the Jaguars, there is elite talent missing in many positions. However, they have done a nice job of upgrading their defense in many areas. They have one of the best defensive lines in all of football, and they can use it in order to drive wins in the future.
If you want to build a great team, you have to start with the defense. Now that the need is covered, the team must start to draft for the offensive side of the ball. That starts with protecting their quarterback in Blake Bortles.
