India A trail by 379 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
India A - 90/2 (27.0 overs)
Australians 469/7declared
The India A bowlers sweated out in the hot and humid Mumbai weather but were largely ineffective against the Australians who seem to have done their homework well. Steve has become a nagging thorn in the India side and will prove to be a problem for the hosts.
The visiting team started their visit in impressive fashion and made 327 for three before retiring for the day. At the end of the day, Mitchell Marsh (16) and Matthew Wade (7) were batting.
Earlier the visitors lost their openers David Warner (25) and Matt Renshaw (11) when the score was 55 for two. Smith and Marsh then made 156 runs before they retired to the pavilion and were least troubled by the Indian bowling attack. Steve was scoring against both pace and spin attack.

Thorn in the Indian flesh
Warner and Renshaw were dismissed by medium pacer Navdeep Saini and finished at the end of the day with an impressive figure of 2 for 27.
The day belonged to Smith who made 107 in 161 balls before he decided not to resume his innings after tea. He was flawless in his batting with the Indian bowlers left looking for the chink in his armor. He danced on the pitch reaching for the spinners and dispatching them to the boundary.
The left-handed Marsh also decimated the bowling attack.
He also retired after making his century which was studded with a dozen fours and one six. Steve was put down by Saini when he mistimed a pull against part-time spinner Akhil Herwadkar at short mid-wicket.
