The "Royal Rumble" is less than a month away and WWE is building up to it in huge ways. So far, there are eight entrants in the battle royal and three huge title matches confirmed for the pay-per-view (PPV). Still, WWE is making sure that its fans get everything they want and that is why they've announced a huge title match for this week's "Monday Night Raw."
While this week's "Raw" was already shaping up to be a huge show, it is obvious that WWE is really wanting to draw in the fans right now. That is why they're going all out until the "Royal Rumble," and this new title match is a great way of doing that.
Roman Reigns to defend U.S. Title in handicap match
Roman Reigns has had to defy the odds on a number of occasions throughout his career, but this may be one of the biggest challenges he's ever faced. He will defend his United States Championship against not one, but two opponents in the same match. One of those opponents is Chris Jericho and the other is WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens.
Jeri-KO will work together in New Orleans to take down Reigns and the U.S. Title will be on the line. Reigns will have to fend both of them off if he's going to keep his gold around his waist, and that will not be easy at all. Things are not looking good for him, and "Monday Night Raw" may be the final night he has in his current title run.
In just a few weeks, Reigns will have the opportunity for more gold, though, as he will face Kevin Owens at the "Royal Rumble" for the WWE Universal Championship. In that match, Chris Jericho will not be able to interfere as he will be locked high above the ring in a shark cage.
Two legends to return on 'Monday Night Raw'
Along with that huge title match, there will be much more happening on "Raw" in New Orleans this Monday.
Two legends are set to make their return to the brand sometimes referred to as Team Red. No one knows what they will be doing there, but we'd all better tune in to find out.
Shawn Michaels has been retired for a long time, but the "Heartbreak Kid" will be there this Monday night. It is expected that he will be promoting his new movie and also the "Royal Rumble" which will take place in his hometown of San Antonio.
The other legend returning to "Monday Night Raw" is a bit more shocking as he has not been seen on TV in a while and he's a member of Team Blue on "SmackDown LIVE." Yes, The Undertaker is going to be back on Monday night, but for what reason? Some feel he may announce he's entering the "Royal Rumble" and looking to the main event, "WrestleMania 33."
