CBS orders “SEAL Team” season 3 despite the reported rating decline. Fans will once again see their favorite Bravo Team on the small screen as lead star David Boreanaz, who plays Jason Hayes’ role, teases what is about to come.
The show, reportedly, deserves a renewal although it has been experiencing rating erosion. According to TVLine, the second season has averaged 5.1 million viewers and 0.8 demo rating in Live+Same Day numbers, which is 24 percent lower compared to its first season.
The show also ranks 10th out of CBS’s 17 dramas in the demo.
However, fans remain passionate and engaged to the series, ranking it on the fourth spot of TVLine’s annual Keep or Cut poll that lists the bubble shows that readers want to have a renewal.
Boreanaz teases what to expect in new season
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Boreanaz revealed “SEAL Team” season 3 would be more about the pack. The new season would give the team a chance to be identified and see what their lives are like.
“We identify them and see what their lives are like, new relationships, identifying past stories with where they come from, looking at their adversities they have to overcome, whether that’s in the political spectrum of Washington and someone becoming an admiral or maybe not,” he said.
Somebody is also set to lose its rank and power in the new season.
He also added the upcoming installment would be “very character driven,” and there would also be new relationships brewing. However, he revealed it would take a little while before fans would see a new romance, but promised it would be a good love story.
CaterMatt added the new love story might involve Boreanaz’s character, Jason.
After everything that he had been through with Alana (Michaela McManus), the new season might be the best time that he would be happy. Alternatively, it might also be about Sonny (A.J. Buckley) and Davis (Toni Trucks).
Season 3 details
CBS has yet to reveal official details about the new season, but expectations about the new installment now emerge.
It is expected to have the same number of episodes like the first two seasons, which both have 22 episodes. So, fans may once again see a lot of character stories and missions – from weekly tasks to the ones that run longer for weeks.
The network also has yet to reveal its official release date, but it may be out sometime this fall. It is already confirmed that the new batch of episodes would be out every Wednesday at 9 PM, which has been its time slot since the beginning.
A lot of people are watching television shows at the said time, so there is a big chance the new season will once again have more viewers. “SEAL Team” season 3 will launch after “Survivor” and before “SWAT,” which moves from Thursday to Wednesday nights.
