Marvel fans, myself included, have been anxiously awaiting “Avengers: Endgame” and it does not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. Marvel’s 22nd film takes moviegoers on an emotional ride filled with laughter, surprise, sadness, and optimism. This is a close study in the character of each of the superheroes.

“Avengers: Infinity War” may have seemed like the ultimate blockbuster, with each character getting their turn at bat. Then, the ending left me in shock, as Thanos successfully erased half of life in the universe, including fan-favorite superheroes.

What a shocker. So, fans have been left in limbo, waiting to see how this is going to be resolved.

What happened?

“Avengers: Endgame” begins with a world caught up in grief and loss. The remaining Avengers have each dealt with loss in different ways: alcoholism, rage, and depression are a few. But it isn’t all doom and gloom. There are also moments of serious laughter and surprise. Thor fans will get a kick out of his new look. Although many of the Marvel superheroes were wiped out by Thanos, the ones left to save the universe are: Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, Pepper Potts, Hulk, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, M'Baku, Rocket Raccoon, Nebula, War Machine, Wong, Thor, Valkyrie, Captain Marvel, and Okoye.

Once a hero, always a hero. The gang manages to pull itself together to try one last time to make things right. Everyone shows up for this movie and the interaction is unbeatable. Filled with personal turmoil and intimate moments, each superhero struggles to believe in hope again. Once the film moves into the action, it is non-stop.

A great conclusion to this chapter of the MCU, "Endgame" will have moviegoers cheering one moment, then in tears the next.

For the fans

This is the “must-see” of all the Marvel Movies. It is made for the fans, and they will love it. Stan Lee’s last cameo deserved and received a rousing cheer and nostalgic heart tug.

No spoilers here, but I will say the movie is three hours and one minute long, so hit the restroom before it starts.

Once it gets going, you won’t want to miss one minute. Also, since the beginning of the Marvel superhero movies back in 2008, over 10 years ago, everyone knows to wait until after the credits roll to see a trailer of the next movie coming up. Not so with this one. There is no trailer afterward, making it seem even more final.

What's next?

Don’t be too upset when it’s over. This is not the end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We still have upcoming movies starring Spider-Man, Guardian of the Galaxy, Black Widow, The Eternals, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther.

“Avengers: Endgame” is highly recommended.
