According to NPR, Marvel Comics chief creative officer, Joe Quesada, stated that “In his lifetime he blessed us with gorgeous art, fantastical stories, heroic characters and a mystical persona worthy of some of his greatest creations.” He was a beloved writer for decades and Quesada emphasizes the love people had for Ditko’s work.

According to a report by The Washington Post, Blake Bell, the author of “Strange and Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko,” talked about Ditko’s inspiration for the character. He said that “It was Ditko who wanted to ground the strip in reality, to see what it was like to be a hero through the eyes of a teenager and to struggle.” He was lauded for his unique take on teenagers, as well as for the responsibility of being a superhero as a teen.

Cause of death is unknown
