Marvel fans are anticipating what's next in terms of the Spider-Man character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His role toward the end of "Avengers: Infinity War" took a surprising turn, leaving fans to wonder if Peter Parker will return for future films. There's the 2019 "Avengers 4" movie which could potentially have Peter in it. There is also a planned "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel scheduled for after the fourth "Avengers" film. No matter who is in it, it sounds like the Spider-Man costume will be undergoing some changes.

Next Spider-Man movie costume

Peter Parker aka Spider-Man first popped up in the "Captain America: Civil War" film. In that film, he was the new superhero that Tony Stark/Iron Man had recruited for his battle against Captain America's side. He got his own solo film with 2017's "Homecoming," and also got a costume upgrade thanks to Tony Stark. The costume had intuitive "smart features" built right into it which Peter had to learn to master.

As Parker tagged along for the space chase in "Infinity War," Stark again gave him a brand new costume which allowed him to survive in space. It also featured those new "Iron Spider" legs that helped Spidey perform even better while in action.

Costume designer Louis Frogley was responsible for the costumes seen in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," and the upcoming "Ant-Man and The Wasp" movie.

While speaking to India West, Frogley offered some insight regarding the next version of Spider-Man's costume for the "Homecoming" sequel.

“I am not actually working on that film, but the costumes will have very big changes because, in the film, Spider-Man becomes more like a man and not a teenager.”

That may not give too many details away as far as the costume's look, but it almost seems to give the spoiler that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will be resurrected somehow in "Avengers 4." The timeline of the film and the fact that Holland's on the cast list at IMDb seems to spoil that, but most fans had an idea already.

Theme park costume & movie details

There was an image recently shown which is said to be a part of the Disney theme park plans involving Marvel. That image (below) shows off what could be a look at the next version of the Spider-Man costume, according to Heroic Hollywood.

Based on feedback that the image received, there are some fans hoping this is just a theme park costume and not what will appear in the next movie.

Over the years inside the Marvel Comics series about Spider-Man, there have been all sorts of different costumes that Peter Parker wore. His costume in "Infinity War" was easily one of the best yet in any of the Spider-Man films released over the years. That has fans hoping that they'll see an even better upgrade in the "Homecoming" sequel.

So far, details regarding the next Spider-Man movie are scarce. However, there have been rumors that actor Jake Gyllenhaal could take on the role of the popular villain from the comics, Mysterio.

In addition, actor Michael Keaton is set to reprise his role as The Vulture. Since the new movie takes place just minutes after the conclusion of the events in "Avengers 4," it's likely that Tom Holland will be back to suit up as the web-slinger.

The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel doesn't have a title quite yet, but will swing into theaters on July 5, 2019, just a few months after "Avengers 4."
