Jada Pinkett Smith admitted that she has often contemplated suicide since fashion designer Kate Spade and TV personality and world-renowned chef Anthony Bourdain took their own lives recently. According to Yahoo, Pinkett Smith said that although it is really sad about these two taking their own lives, she can understand how they felt. She understands what they went through to make them want to commit suicide.

According to the Huffington Post, Pinkett Smith said she understands their "despair" and has often thought of taking her life as well. She says practicing mental health is a daily thing for her and very important to keep herself from actually going through with it.

According to Pinkett Smith, practicing mental health is practicing a deep self-love:

"One thing I’ve learned in my life over the years is that mental health is something we should practice daily, not just when issues arise."

While speaking with Megyn Kelly, Pinkett Smith also added: “I wish somebody had told me that it’s going to be okay. We’re going to have obstacles, you’re going to have difficult times, you’re going to have really dark times. But just understand, keep stepping because life starts to reveal itself to you. The light will come.”

Pinkett Smith's daughter Willow suffers from mental illness too

Jada Pinkett Smith is not the only one who thinks of self-destruction. She has a Facebook Watch series called "Red Table Talk" and during one of the shows, 17-year-old daughter Willow Smith opened up about how she was cutting herself.

In fact, after the success of her single, she made in 2010 called "Whip My Hair," Willow began to cut herself on a regular basis.

Willow stunned her mother and those who were watching by stating that she was in a dark and crazy place back then. She was listening to dark music, and said she was "plunged into a black hole" and was "doing crazy things." One of those things was cutting her own body.

Willow said she was cutting her wrists a lot, and said she "totally lost her sanity for a moment."

Willow admitted that she was feeling so much emotional pain, and said you have to pull yourself out of the dark place and move on.

Jada and Willow are two very strong women

These two ladies are very strong to come face-to-face with their mental health issues and to be able to admit that they have tried to hurt themselves and have contemplated taking their own lives. They should be applauded for coming forward with their feelings and their mental health statuses.
