According to Daytime Confidential, Marci Miller has quit “Days of Our Lives” and is looking to pursue movie and primetime roles. Miller's IMDb page notes that she's involved in the pilot of a new show titled “Gods of Medicine,” but not much seems to have emerged about that potential series.

The “Days of Our Lives” star's decision to quit, if that is indeed the case, will strike many as an interesting one. This was Miller's first daytime role and she had big shoes to fill. Despite that, she made the role her own and has seemingly really enjoyed the experience. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award this year and shared on social media that she was grateful for the opportunity she's been given with “DOOL.”

This departure likely puts the soap in a difficult spot

As “DOOL” viewers know, Marci's character of Abigail is front-and-center these days. Miller is juggling three personas with this complicated storyline and the twists and turns have had “Days of Our Lives” fans talking. This story has turned off some viewers, especially as “Gabby” grew closer with Stefan, and spoilers have hinted that significant progress in resolving all of this Abby-related drama would play out during May sweeps this month.

So far, neither "Days of Our Lives" or Marci Miller have confirmed the reports that the actress has quit and is leaving the role of Abigail. It's worth noting that "DOOL" has an unusual filming schedule, in that they are typically filming about six months ahead of when the episodes will actually air. That can make it tough to keep casting developments under wraps, and it'll be interesting to see when these departure reports are addressed.

Will the show try to recast the character, once again, or write Abby off the canvas rather than try to get viewers on board with another new actress? Is there any way they can lure Kate Mansi back?
