In the comics, Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American teenager in New Jersey who is exposed to the Terrigens and becomes an Inhuman with polymorphic powers.
She dons the name Ms. Marvel as she idolizes Carol after she saw her in action. Kamala became popular among the readers and established herself as one of Marvel's must-see heroines. She also became a member of the Avengers after "Secret Wars" and led her own team, The Champions, alongside Nova, Miles Morales, Amadeus Cho, Viv Vision, and the time-displaced Cyclops.
The studio teased before that Kamala could debut in "Spider-Man: Homecoming 2" as a way to introduce teenage heroes like Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Her status as an Inhuman could also factor in since the superpowered species already made a name for themselves in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and in their own mini-series.
Doctor Minerva added
"Humans" star Gemma Chan has been added to the cast of "Captain Marvel" after she tweeted a photo of her production chair for the movie. She is hinted to play the role of Doctor Minerva, a Kree scientist who works closely with Mar-Vell and potentially could be one of the antagonists in the film's plot.
