There has been plenty of speculation on who will make it to the guest list of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Since the bride comes from an American background, there were possibilities of former president Barack Obama being present. However, the final list of invitees to the Royal Wedding does not include anyone with political links. This is an indication of the mindset of the Royal couple.

Sky News reports that names of British politicians like Prime Minister Theresa May, and Jeremy Corbyn do not appear in the list. According to a Royal source, the invitees are individuals who enjoy a direct relationship with one or both of the couple.

This wedding will be unique

The official spokesman of Prince Harry has confirmed that political leaders of Britain and leaders from other countries are not on the list of the Royal wedding. This decision has been accepted by all concerned authorities. Incidentally, the venue of the wedding is smaller than Westminster Abbey, where William and Kate got married. At that time, a number of heads of state had been invited including the then Prime Minister David Cameron.

The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is, no doubt, an important national occasion, but Harry is not in the immediate line of succession. The criterion for selection of guests to the Windsor Castle's St George's Chapel on 19 May was simple – they must have some direct relationship with either Harry of Meghan or both.

They want to be different

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always tried to maintain their separate identities. He had spent time in Afghanistan as a fighter pilot of Apache helicopters. She had been an actress in Hollywood and had become famous because of her TV drama series “Suits.” Obviously, their outlook on life is different as are their circle of friends.

According to BBC, the decision to eliminate politicians from the list of invitees to the Royal wedding was due to the size of the church. Among members of the public who will be present on the occasion is a young girl who was injured in the Manchester terror attack. She had seen the bombing of the Ariana Grande concert in May 2017 and suffered damages to her vocal cords from screaming in horror.

The 12-year-old girl will be accompanied by her grandmother.

The list of invitees was drawn up based on the specific request of the couple. They wanted to have people from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and for some of the guests, the invitation came as a real surprise.
