On Sunday night, "60 minutes" broadcasted their interview with Stormy Daniels, the adult film star who has been linked to an affair with Donald Trump. The morning after, First Lady Melania Trump released a statement about whether or not she watched the program.

Melania on Stormy Daniels

It all started with a report in January by the Wall Street Journal alleging that Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's personal lawyer, spent $130,000 to silence Stormy Daniels about her affair with the former host of "The Apprentice." The news quickly dominated the headlines, though Trump himself remained silent, which has continued until present day.

As the story made the rounds and picked up steam, reports of marriage trouble with the first couple became public, highlighted by Melania Trump canceling a planned trip with her husband overseas.

In the weeks that have followed, Melania Trump has been reported to have been keeping her distance from Donald Trump, only adding fuel to the fire over their alleged marriage trouble. Following the "60 Minutes" interview with Stormy Daniels, Melania was asked if she watched the broadcasted, and responded through a statement by her spokeswoman.

"She's focused on being a mom and is quite enjoying spring break at Mar-a-Lago while working on future projects," Melania said. The response was neither a confirmation, nor a denial, about whether or not the first lady watched the interview with the woman her husband allegedly had an affair with.

Twitter backlash

In response to Melania Trump's statement about Stormy Daniels' "60 Minutes" interview, critics of the administration wasted no time firing back.

"I'm betting she doesn't give one you know what about Stormy, the playb*y chick or the hundreds of others. We all know this 'marriage' was all about $$$$," one tweet read.

"We're talking about someone who herself was one of Trump's affairs.

She doesn't care about Stormy, Karen, Summer, Billy Bush etc. For Melania it was always a business deal: didn't have to work, got lavish lifestyle, and he got to play and be a boor. Deserves no respect or sympathy," a Twitter user wrote. "And by 'future projects' she means hiring a divorce lawyer and looking for a new residence," another tweet added.

"Melania's boyfriend, Future Projects, is much better at...well everything...

than her husband, Hopeless Project. So it really is going to be a nice week-long break for FLOTUS," a social media user wrote. "In other words, it’s business as usual for Melania. She’s luxuriating, shopping & dining in splendor with the understanding that her husband can screw as he pleases," a follow-up tweet stated.
