John Mayer's love life and long list of famous ex-girlfriends, including singers Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, has always been a popular topic for Hollywood headlines. However, one thing that has not changed, in his love life, over the years is his long-lasting love for Stratocaster guitars.

The singer has been teasing some sort of collaboration with Prs, on his social media, for a while now and last night John took to his Instagram to confirm that the PRS guitar collaboration was officially happening, and sooner than we all thought.

New Strat style electric guitar called Silver Sky

Apparently, this guitar has been two years in the making with Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. It was inspired by the duo's love for the 1963 and 1964 Strat instruments. Surely, John Mayer's love and knowledge of guitars helped plenty during the creation of the Silver Sky. Most John Mayer fans know the singer/songwriter has a very extensive guitar collection of his own, over 200.

According to Guitar World, Mayer said in a press release, "It’s been a dream of mine for years to design a guitar that includes some of my favorite vintage specifications but with a modern spirit and aesthetic. After two years of study and refinement, the Silver Sky is my vision of what a reboot of the electric guitar should look and feel like."

According to the PRS Guitar official website, the John Mayer collaboration guitar "yielded a few firsts for a PRS model" including "a unique and longer scale length, clocking in at 25.375”, specially-wound 58/15 JM Treble & Bass pickups with a specially, wound Narrowfield JM pickup in the middle position, three individual coil-tap mini switches and a JCF audio preamp with treble boost."

John Mayer is a very busy man

Not only has he had this collaboration in the works for the past two years, but he released his album "The Search For Everything", went on a world tour of his own, and is also currently on the Dead and Company tour.

He was recently in the headlines supporting fellow singer Justin Bieber, after Justin canceled the remainder of his world tour, due to his "mental health." Mayer commended him for putting his own health first.

And I am sure this collaboration project won't be the last we see of Mayer this year!
