Celebrities want to spread a message

Black Panther” is a new type of movie and some celebrities, like Hollywood actress Octavia Spencer and tennis legend Serena Williams, want to pass on some form of a message to those who belong to underprivileged people. Serena is a renowned tennis player and a mother of a one-year-old girl. She arranged for a private screening of the movie for kids of the Black Girls Code and was also present there herself. The message she wanted to pass on was about increased participation of women of color in the digital technology space.

Apart from Serena Williams, others who had similar ideas are rapper T.I., who talked with Walmart to provide a free screening of the movie for children in Atlanta.

Octavia Spencer also followed in their footsteps. She purchased tickets for underprivileged kids, and let people know via the social media to spread the word. She wanted the families to avail the opportunity to watch the movie for free.

The story in short

The Atlantic adds that the story of “Black Panther” is based on a fictional African kingdom of Wakanda which is an advanced isolated African civilization free of influences of war or colonialism.

The hero is T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). He is the King and, as the Black Panther, has to protect his people. The nation is highly advanced and he wears a bulletproof suit made out of a special material which is believed to be the strongest metal on Earth.

Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) is the heroine of the movie. She is a covert agent for the Dora Milaje, which is an all-female royal honor guard and is involved in undercover work.

She has to break up a gang that carries out human trafficking in Nigeria. Incidentally, many of the central characters are female and Black Panther boasts of an impressive black cast that is seldom seen in any major Hollywood movie.
