It was earlier this month when reports circulated that Donald Trump had paid hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their personal affair dating back over a decade. In a new report from the New York Times, First Lady Melania Trump did not take it well.

Trump's stormy relationship

It's no secret that Donald Trump has had a controversial history with women.

Whether it was the revealing "Access Hollywood" tape or the dozen allegations of sexual assault and harassment that have since followed, the former host of "The Apprentice" has been forced to deny the claims against him. The latest rumor involves Stormy Daniels and her reported affair with Trump back in 2006, just one year after the president married Melania Trump. The time of the affair would indicate that Melania was pregnant with the couple's first son Barron at the time.

A report in the New York Times on January 29 elaborates on the couple's troubles, with reporters Katie Rogers and Maggie Haberman saying Melania Trump was "furious" at Donald Trump after finding out about the alleged affair, with the first lady being "blindsided" by the report.

The Nyt article goes on to describe the current state of the relationship between Melania and Donald as "tumultuous."

Trouble in paradise

Speculation has only continued to grow in regards to the first couple, with both Melania and Donald Trump staying quiet about their 13th wedding anniversary last Monday.

In addition, Melania made a last minute change of plans and backed out of accompanying the president to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland last week, with the White House claiming it was just a "scheduling" issue. Responding to additional reports that Melania was moving out of the White House was First Lady spokeswoman Stephanie Grisha who described the rumors as "salacious" and "flat-out false" during an aggressive post on social media.

Moving forward

As of press time, Donald Trump has not addressed any of the news, reports, and rumors regarding his relationship with Melania Trump, as he's done his best to keeping to his usual routine of bashing his critics on social media, attempting to cut deals in Washington, all while rehearsing for his upcoming State of the Union address. With additional reporting being released, this time from the New York Times, it's unknown what the next development will be when it comes to the president and the first lady of the United States.
