A regular Monday morning took a turn for the worst when a Metropolitan police officer responded to a call to Park Lane at 9:05-GMT where a woman in her mid 40's was discovered dead.

BBC News reported that the mystery woman turned out to be Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries. The news shocked the music community. Now we are waiting for answers on how she died.

Events leading up to the singer's death

In 2017 the Cranberries announced they would be touring the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. The tour didn't last long though. In May, shortly into the European tour, the Cranberries had to cancel the rest of the tour due to O'Riordan's health issues.

The Irish singer was suffering from terrible back pains that permitted her from performing.

Shortly before Christmas O'Riordan posted on Facebook that she had been feeling good and performing a few gigs. On January 4th, 2018 she tweeted a picture of herself and her cat.

O'Riordan went to London to have a short recording session. London would be the last stop for her.

Dolores O'Riordan's death would not be the day music died, but the day the music industry lost an amazing voice; an absolutely incredible talent. O'Riordan left the world at only 46 years of age. Her publicist announced her death via email that went viral as people read it in disbelief.

Many musicians took to Twitter to give their condolences to the family, who has asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Kodaline tweeted: "Absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of Dolores O'Riordan! @The_Cranberries gave us our first big support when we toured with them around France years ago. Thoughts are with her family and friends."

Hozier tweeted: "My first time hearing Dolores O'Riordan's voice was unforgettable. It threw into question what a voice could sound like in that context of Rock.

I'd never heard of somebody use their instrument in that way. Shocked and saddened to hear of her passing, thoughts are with her family."

Many more musicians have tweeted out their sadness and I'm sure it will continue into the week.

Speculations on cause of death

Nothing has been officially announced on the cause of death, but due to the suddenness of it, many have pinned it on suicide due to her health issues.

O'Riordan was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in 2015. Before that, the singer had a rough past with depression and alcohol abuse that may have stemmed from trauma as a child. TMZ reported that friends close to the singer said she was depressed due to her back pain.

Whatever the cause, it is still horrible and a heartbreak that will take a while to recover from.

The tweet from the remaining Cranberries members best explains the pain and love for Dolores.

"We are devasted on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today. Noel, Mike, and Fergal."

Rest in peace, away from all the suffering love. You are in a better place, but always in our hearts.
