Chris Hemsworth, the actor famous for playing the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor, says his contract with Marvel Studios has officially ended after wrapping up the fourth untitled Avengers film. He said this after finishing his scenes with "Avengers 4," written and directed by the brothers Anthony and Joe Russo.

Hemsworth got bored playing Thor?

The Australian actor admitted that he got bored playing the Norse god before shooting the third film of the franchise, “Thor: Ragnarok.” He said that reprising the role for the third film invigorated his interest in the franchise.

Hemsworth told IGN that while it was fun playing the Asgardian crown prince, but he felt restricted doing it. But the recent experience with director Taika Waititi made him feel reinvigorated and a renewed sense of excitement and enthusiasm about his role. He also added that Waititi and the Russo brothers let him reinvent Thor to the point that the character itself has evolved.

“Thor: Ragnarok” has significantly reinvented both the character and the eponymous franchise itself. This was a calculated move made by Hemsworth and the newcomer director, Waititi. According to them, this was done so that the character can break the mold and reach a far greater possibility. Apparently, the risk paid off because the third film became the highest-grossing film of the franchise and 17th consecutive box office opener for Marvel Studios.

Will he be open reprising the role after the ‘Avengers 4?'

While he confirmed that his contract with Marvel Studios has officially ended, he also said that he is open for negotiations to reprise the role beyond “Avengers 4.” According to the 34-year-old actor, he would love to reprise the role if there is an opportunity to do so.

If Marvel Studios extends his contract, he will appear in other movies beyond “Avengers 4,” like Robert Downey Jr. when he finished his contract after “Iron Man 3.” But as we all know, most of the Avengers actors will have their contracts expired after the fourth Avengers film.

Chris Hemsworth will appear on the next Avengers film titled, “Avengers: Infinity War” alongside Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, and Josh Brolin playing the role of Thanos.

The next Avenger film will battle the evil Thanos, the mad titan searching for the Infinity Stones on Earth that are in the possession of some of the heroes.

The “Avengers: Infinity War” will be released in theaters this May 4, 2018.
