Hollywood is in a constant spotlight, be it for the happy news of a new celebrity baby being born, the sad news of an actor or actress passing away, or the bad news of accusations. Either way, people always find something interesting to report on the stars that call Hollywood their playground.
In recent news the young singer Melanie Martinez, who became noticeable after competing on "The Voice", has been accused of sexually assaulting her former best friend. A detailed account of the story was posted by aspiring musician Timothy Heller, on her Twitter account.
Heller accused Martinez of molesting her, performing non-consensual oral sex and penetrating her with a sex toy - all of this allegedly happened after Heller repeatedly told Martinez "no".
The alleged incident
Heller's story added to the flood of stories regarding the sexual impropriety in Hollywood and beyond. The first account of the story was released on Monday, December 4. Martinez then responded early on the Tuesday morning of December 5. Heller told her fans that she had "kept this secret for many years, convincing myself that it wasn't a big deal and I wasn't hurt by it." The post continues to detail the two-night sleepover when the alleged incident occurred.
Although Heller never directly made reference to Martinez in the description of the alleged incident, she did name the 22-year-old singer as the alleged assaulter in her original tweet.
Heller went on to claim that the pair did not talk about the night the alleged incident took place and that their friendship had since ended.
In the post on Heller's Twitter account, the aspiring musician went on to claim that Martinez made continuous advances on Heller, ignoring her refusal and then proceeded to use a sex toy on her without her consent.
Heller finished off her post with what can only be described as a 'heartfelt' statement: "I beg you to imagine her role in this being a man." The young musician wrote. "Girls can rape girls. Best friends can rape best friends. Friendship does not equal consent. Silence doesn't equal consent. I wish it wasn't so hard for me to convince myself of these things."
When I wrote this story about my assault, I initially wasn’t going to make the abuser. But I think it’s important for you all to know this is about Melanie Martinez pic.twitter.com/4PQ5oNI2s9

Martinez' response
Martinez released a statement, a couple of hours after the allegations, denying the claims.
"I am horrified and saddened by the statements and the story told by Timothy Heller. What she and I shared was a close friendship for a period of time," The Voice singer wrote on her Twitter account. Martinez finished off her statement saying: "She never said no to what we chose to do together. And although we parted ways, I am sending her love and light always."
