While we are eagerly waiting for the cast and crew to finish shooting the episodes of what would be considered as the final season of the HBO hit TV series "Game of Thrones," many theories and other "GoT" related developments are floating around the internet these past few months.
One of the latest developments is that a certain character might not be coming back for the eighth season. Can you guess who this person is? This character is none other than Meera Reed, played by Ellie Kendrick.
Why is she not coming back to 'Game of Thrones' finale?
The last time we saw Meera Reed was when she was dragging the new Three-Eyed Raven, Bran Stark through the North.
However, once she succeeded in bringing Bran back to Winterfell, she went to return to their home in Greywater Watch to be with her family when the White Walkers arrive. It was a bitter farewell between Meera and Bran.
Kendrick said in an interview with Metro: “I have no idea if they will take me back. I always get asked by fans ‘what’s next for Meera? Have you received your script yet?” She also spoke about possibly not coming back to the hit TV show: “I don’t know; that’s true. I wait for their phone call but they haven’t called me so, I don’t know. I haven’t received any word for my return at this point so I’m yet to get their call.”
Most of the cast is already on set and working on the production of the episodes.
“It was so sad to say goodbye to Isaac, who is getting taller and not so young now, which means that he’s going to be harder to put on the sled. I actually did it even though he’s taller than me,” Kendrick added. “It was bittersweet to say goodbye, but I was quite relieved for my back because I will no longer drag him all over the North now.
I mean, I really dragged him. I did not do it all the time because in wide shots I was dragging a dummy version of Bran Stark. I did plenty of dragging. By the end of it all, I got a strong back.”
What about the theory of Jon and Meera's relationship?
This development shocked some fans because there is a wild "Game of Thrones" theory concerning her and the King in the North, Jon Snow.
According to this theory, Meera and Jon are twins. They support this theory on the basis that Jon and Meera are exactly the same age. Plus, their fathers Ned Stark and Howland Reed were the survivors of the Tower of Joy battle. According to Digital Spy, the crazy theory goes that Lyanna Stark may have had twins, and owing to the fact that they are Rhaegar Targaryen’s children, Ned and Howland decided to take each of the babies and bring them under their protection.
This is particularly bad news for Meera Reed fans who were hoping to see her kick some undead butts and confirm their theory about her being twins with Jon. Their theory may have been completely destroyed, but they still have until 2019 to form another one. In the meantime, people are still wondering about how the famous TV show will end.
