The latest updates and spoilers for Sony's "Venom" spin-off film reveal their plans to use the "Lethal Protector" arc as the basis for the movie's plot. Tom Hardy's version of the alien monster will try to become a hero in the movie. The film's production crew will begin shooting in San Francisco, California.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" star Jacob Batalon wants to see Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and face Peter Parker in the sequel. Venom made his first big screen debut in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3," and Topher Grace played him.
Lethal Protector
According to Omega Underground, Sony will use the "Lethal Protector" comic book storyline as their basis for the "Venom" spin-off plot. In the comics, the "Lethal Protector" arc reveals Venom's early superhero career as Eddie Brock accepted the symbiote in his life and tried to do good in San Francisco.
However, Venom uses lethal tactics to fight crime and has no qualms about killing criminals. Eddie will face a group of mercenaries called "The Jury" and they armed with Stark Tech armor and weaponry. The story arc also introduced other symbiote-powered individuals such as Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.
Omega Underground's report also revealed that the production of the "Venom" spin-off would begin first in San Francisco and Sony will have to tweak certain references such as the use of Stark weaponry and Spider-Man's presence to avoid any connection to the MCU.
The "Venom" spin-off" will feature Tom Hardy's version of Eddie Brock getting his powers from a pandemic virus, and it will help him cure a fatal disease in his body.
MCU crossover teased?
Jacob Batalon talked about the next villain that Spider-Man will face in the "Homecoming" sequel. He told Screenrant at New York Comic-Con that he wants to see Venom in the film, but he is unsure if Marvel Studios will do it since Sony is making the spin-off film.
"It would be interesting to see like Venom, but that's just though," Batalon said. "We'll see what happens. I'm not gonna say anything."
A Reddit user once theorized that Peter Parker would encounter the alien symbiote in "Avengers: Infinity War" after he was injured during the Avengers war with Thanos and The Black Order. The symbiote will bond with Peter, and his suit will transform into the MCU's version of the black Spider-Man costume. The latter will keep the black suit after the events of the movie, or during the next Spidey sequel.
