The upcoming Lifetime movie “Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer” is set to premiere on November 11. The film will tell the story of South African double-amputee Paralympian, Oscar Pistorius and the events leading up to the killing of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. It also covers the courtroom drama that followed the murder.
Pistorius was dubbed the “Blade Runner” after participating in the Olympics using special blade prosthetics, as a double-amputee. His legs had been amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old, due to his being born with fibula hemimelia – an absence of the fibula – in both his legs.
The story of Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp to air on Lifetime
Pistorius went on to have what seemed to be a fairytale romance with a model, Steenkamp. However, things really went wrong on Valentine’s Day in 2013 when he fired four shots through a bathroom door in his Pretoria home, killing Steenkamp.

The film is told from the viewpoint of Steenkamp and her mother, and covers events leading up to the shooting, including the couple’s relationship and how things went wrong between Pistorius and Steenkamp, leading to the tragic shooting in his home.
It also covers the widely reported courtroom dramas that followed the incident, with the Blade Runner often openly weeping on the stand.
Appeals continue in the case of Oscar Pistorius
At the time of the shooting, Pistorius was convicted of manslaughter, as he claimed he believed there was an intruder in his home. After serving just one year of his five-year sentence, he was released.
However, a South African appeals court overturned the conviction, leading to Pistorius being charged with murder and facing a six-year sentence behind bars.
As reported by Times Live, the South African state is still appealing the conviction against Pistorius, stating it was too short and their arguments to increase the sentence to 15 years are set to be heard in the South African Supreme Court on November 3, shortly before the release of the movie.
