The wait is almost over as we are only eleven days away from the much-awaited “Outlander” Season 3 premiere. The series’ second installment came to a close almost a year ago, which explains why avid followers of the show are thrilled for the upcoming season.
Just recently, lead stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have spotted together again in a steamy photo shoot. Reports suggest that the two STARZ artists are gracing the new cover of Entertainment Weekly.
Sam and Caitriona’s provocative photos
Steamy pictures of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe made rounds online last weekend.
Portraying their characters as Jamie and Claire, the snaps showed as if the pair was stranded on an island.
All the steamy photographs were shot in Cape Town, South Africa, where the pair also shot all the important scenes for the third season. Sam and Caitriona posed for photographer Ruven Afanador on the decks of HMS Porpoise and Artemis vessels.
Caitriona, then, shared to Entertainment Weekly her experiences while filming the upcoming “Outlander” Season 3. I think it was tough sometimes just because it was hot and that's something we're not always used to. And the scripts were quite physically intensive,” the 37-year-old Irish actress said.
She added that the higher ups did not allow her to do some very extreme stunts.
Catriona Balfe stated that she wanted to get physical at times, just like her co-stars Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies.
Sam Heughan, for his part, revealed that moving the production to South Africa significantly contributed to the delay of “Outlander” Season 3. "I understand fans and their disappointment, but we just physically couldn't do it quicker,” series’ co-executive producer Maril Davis said.
The Scottish actor added that they have four weeks to prepare for each episode. However, Sam confessed that he really enjoyed filming the imminent third installment despite being in a new setting.
Are Sam and Caitriona dating in real life?
Meanwhile, Blasting News previously reported that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are not a couple.
The “Outlander” Season 3 lead stars admitted that they are already exhausted by the unending dating rumors.
“This is fantasy. This is our job. We are very different in our private life. We are best friends," Caitriona previously told Entertainment Weekly. Sam agreed to his leading lady and stated that he feels bad that some fans were disappointed that they are not dating in real life.
