“The X-Files” Season 11 is now in production and fans already saw the first look of Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny). From the looks of it, the two FBI special agents will be drawn closer together this time, after they displayed their professional working relationship in the previous season.
However, the long-running television show’s new installment is said to be unconnected to its predecessor. The 10th chapter ended with a major cliffhanger, but the eight episodes of the new installment’s 10-episode arc are described to be standalone.
A different theme
According to Christian Today, Fox president David Madden revealed that “The X-Files” Season 11’s theme will be the “monster-of-the-week stories.”
It has been said that the television show’s new subject is way different from the usual alien mythology the series has known for. However, Madden revealed that the new installment would start where the previous season left off with the “big helicopter.”
“You'll be launched into a very urgent adventure that has a lot to do with William,” he said. In spite of this, fans hanging questions about the preceding chapter might still be answered if there will be a season 12 coming. Madden also assured that the series will still do mythology stories and other tales that will have a connection to the earlier narratives.
Two new promotional images
Fox already gave the first look to the coming “The X-Files” Season 11 by dropping two new images featuring Dana Scully and the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis).
In the first snap obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Scully was seen lying on a hospital bed while Fox Mulder was sitting beside her.
He looked very sad. The series creator Chris Carter teased the photo that showed the two agents had swapped their places. To recall, Mulder was the one who was sick in the previous season, and Mulder seemed to be immune to the alien virus. “Obviously something unexpected has happened,” he teased.
As there are swirling rumors that Mulder and Scully will be a couple again, this might be the start of it.
Carter also revealed that fans have something to look forward to regarding these two FBI agents. Will they be back together?
In the second picture, it showed an episode set from the past. This might hint that there will be a backstory about the big bad Cigarette Smoking Man. He seemed like inside a smoking room together with two other people and an alien standing by.
