“Star Wars: The Last Jedi's” new trailer is full of hints and clues about what could possibly happen in the sequel trilogy’s penultimate installment. In fact, its director, Rian Johnson, even told the fans that if they want to stay clean, they should avoid watching the video teaser.
From the looks of it, “Episode 8” seems to be extremely dark. In fact, it is being likened to the original trilogy’s “Empire Strikes Back.” Will the Dark Side prevail this time?
The intense scenes in the new trailer
According to Nerdist, Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) connection to his mother, General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is similar to the latter’s link to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in “Empire Strikes Back.”
The appearance of the Walkers in “Episode 8” is also akin to the epic battle in “Episode 5.” After seeing him mostly through the hologram, the new trailer also gave the first look at Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) in the flesh.
This, too, revealed something about his character in the movie.
Other scenes that were revealed are Finn (John Boyega) on the planet of Canto Bight and his face-to-face battle with Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie).
Rey and Kylo’s Force abilities
The “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trailer mainly focused on Rey and Kylo Ren’s characters.
It even hinted the birth of the Grey Jedi Order that will put balance to the Force. A glimpse of Rey’s training on Ahch-To with the Master Jedi himself, Luke Skywalker was also shown. “Something, something inside me has always been there,” she said while she was handling Luke’s lightsaber.
She even told him that something in her was awoken and she needed his help.
A few scenes of her training were then revealed. This even included a sequence where the small rocks were seen levitating in the air while the big ones were breaking. This startled Luke.
With a look of fear, the Master Jedi then narrated that he already once saw that kind of strength. The scene was then cut to his destructed Jedi temple where his robotic-hand emerged from splintered woods.
“It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now,” he said.
The counterparts of these two, Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke, also have a scene. “When I found you, I saw raw, untamed power,” the leader of the First Order can be heard saying. He went on to say that he also saw “something truly special” beyond that power. From the looks of it, Rey and Kylo both have special Force powers. Is a battle coming between them?
