Keith Urban has a lot to be thankful for in his 50 years of existence. The country singer has reached another milestone and his wife, Nicole Kidman, was among those who celebrated the special day with him. In a Facebook post shared Thursday, the "Moulin Rouge" actress penned a short message to express how lucky she is to have Keith Urban in her life.
"Happy birthday to my husband, best friend, lover, baby daddy and the greatest man in the world," she captioned their photo. "We are so lucky that you are ours.
Love you from Nicole Mary, Sunday Rose & Faith Margaret."
How romance started for Nicole and Keith
Nicole Kidman has been married to Keith Urban for over a decade now. The country singer has previously said that it was love at first sight although he did not make an immediate move to show his feelings toward the actress. The two first met at the 2005 G'Day USA and reconnected four months after the first meeting.
The couple tied the knot after a few months of dating. When asked about the decision, the "Lion" actress admitted she wanted to get married first in order to get to know the singer. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were blessed with their first child in 2008. The two welcomed another baby girl to their growing family two years later.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the "Somebody Like You" crooner commended his wife for being a great mother to their kids and for teaching him how to raise their daughters. "I have no reference for girls," he said. "I grew up in a house of boys, so it's quite the learning curve."
Nicole gushes over Keith on his love for music
Nicole Kidman, on the other hand, has nothing but praise for her husband's passion for music.
She said Keith Urban has so much love for his craft that he still gets excited to perform for his fans. "He doesn't get nervous; he just can't wait to get up there," she mused.
The actress added that her husband would often play the piano at seven in the morning, which she said brings a "very joyful" atmosphere to their home.
But just like any other couple, their marriage was tested when Keith Urban opened up about his cocaine use and drug abuse.
In the same year of their marriage, the country crooner checked himself into the Betty Ford Center for rehabilitation. He also released a statement to apologize to his wife and his loved ones for causing them pain. Nicole Kidman, on one hand, canceled her press tour to give her full support to the singer.
