The candidates of Miss Grand International 2017 participated in a welcome gala dinner held in Quang Binh, Vietnam on October 10. This is the second dinner event organized since the ladies arrived in this Southeast Asian country.

The gala event was held at Sun Spa Resort in the official host location of the pageant. Before the start of the dinner, they graced a red carpet photo shoot showcasing their stunning evening gowns.

Earlier, the first welcome dinner was held at the Pullman Saigon Center Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, according to Global Beauties.

Miss Grand International president Nawat Itsaragrisil and current titleholder Ariska Putri Pertiwi from Indonesia were present during the event.

Just like the previous gala dinner, all of the contestants each got the chance to introduce themselves and their country in front of the attendees. The gala also featured a full production of Vietnamese cultural performances.

The contestants from France, China, Cuba, Tanzania, and the Philippines were invited to the stage to participate in a “special game.” It was later revealed that the “game” was to give each of them a surprise gift for their birthdays. The contestants each received Ao Dai, the Vietnamese traditional dress. They also blew candles on the cake that was brought onto the stage.

Early favorites

The event that night was a chance for the ladies to further step up their game and wear their most glamorous outfits. For instance, Elizabeth Clenci from the Philippines wore a plain red gown made with long sleeves and a beautiful train. It was created by a local designer in her country, Pablo Cabahug.

Sanjeda John from Malaysia wore a silk-made long gown embellished with bright floral prints.

Meanwhile, Dea Rizkita from Indonesia wore a white strapless gown with a high slit.

Aside from the gala night, Sun Spa Resort also played host to conical hat making and cake making activities that the girls participated in. The conical hat is an iconic headpiece worn in this Southeast Asian region.

When the candidates visited Quang Binh, they headed to Paradise Cave for sightseeing and photo shoots along with the magnificent rock formations in the area.

They were dressed in the traditional attire inside the cave.
