Game of Thrones Season 8 might be months or even years away, but that doesn’t stop a lot of fans from speculating as to what could transpire from the cliffhangers that were left off in Season 7. Samwell Tarly (John Bradley West) amused a lot of fans when he took credit on Gilly’s (Hannah Murray) big discovery. Rhaegar Targaryen divorced his marriage from Elia Martell and married Lyanna Stark in a private ceremony, where they shared a living son named Aegon. It turned out that the baby is now known as Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Recently, Bradley West explained why Sam somehow took credit of this massive information.

Veteran directors are returning

John Bradley West recently sat down with the Huff Post to discuss more of “Game of Thrones” Season 8 and the set of directors that the producers have assigned. He said that directors Miguel Sapochnik and David Nutter are being brought back to helm the show’s final season. They have previously directed some of the series’ big episodes like the “Battle of the Bastards.” The actor is also aware that many fans were put off by that scene when he confirmed with Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) that Jon is actually the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. Apparently, this makes him the true heir to the Iron Throne.

Sam did NOT take credit

The actor explained to the Huff Post that Samwell has not “consciously plagiarized” his girlfriend’s discovery about Jon’s true parentage.

He said that the Tarly guy is just really good at “processing information.” “He can take information in, almost subconsciously, and almost without thinking about it,” John Bradley said. “His eyes and his ears are constantly attuned to absorbing information, so he’s able to absorb that without even necessarily thinking about it.” He also compared his character to a radio that picks up information being aired and stores it when it’s needed.

He went on to say that Sam is probably oblivious when he heard Gilly telling him about Rhaegar and Lyanna. During “Game of Thrones” Season 7 finale, Bran told Samwell Tarly that Jon needs to know about his true parentage. At that moment, the supposed bastard son of Ned Stark was engaged in a love-making sesh with his (aunt) Daenerys Targaryen.

Apparently, the “just in love” couple wasn’t aware that they are blood-related. Theories have it that this might be the reason that their relationship might hit a snag, knowing that Jon should be the one to take the Iron Throne.

The eighth and final installment

Each episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 8 will cost $15 million and reportedly the production has started. The upcoming installment will only have six episodes.
