It is no secret that Demi Lovato uses music to give fans an intimate glimpse into her personal life. Her new album, "Tell Me You Love Me," recently hit the shelves and one of its tracks, “Ruin the Friendship,” caught the attention of many fans.
"Ruin the Friendship" features heavy R&B influences and tells about being stuck in a platonic relationship. Even though the 25-year-old singer-songwriter has not revealed who the song was about, the subject is said to be her long-time friend, Nick Jonas.
Now, Demi Lovato is speaking out on those dating rumors during her guest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Unfortunately, she refused to reveal the identity of the song's subject, only saying that she and Nick Jonas are just good friends.
"But you don't care!" the "Cool for the Summer" hitmaker said. "Something that I will always keep to myself is who I write my songs about," she stressed.
How it all began?
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas’ long friendship began in the 2008 popular Disney original movie “Camp Rock,” which eventually led to more projects such as the 2010 “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.” They have also collaborated on several tracks together and even launched their own record label called Safehouse Records.
The pair also co-headlined the "Future Now Tour," which started June 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia and ended September 2016 in Inglewood, California. The tour was in support of Demi Lovato’s 2015 full-length album, "Confident" and Nick Jonas’ third studio album, "Last Year Was Complicated.”
Hence, the former Disney stars have grown quite fond of one another.
In fact, Demi Lovato is one of the first people Nick Jonas tells anything to. “I internalize things, so we have this rule that we never want to hear about it in a tweet or something. She'd read me the riot act, so she's the third person I call—my dad [Paul Kevin Jonas, Sr.], Joe [Joseph Adam Jonas], then Demi,” he revealed in one interview with Billboard.
Nick Jonas' upcoming projects
Following the successful release of his new single "Remember I Told You," Nick Jonas is now taking his talent to the big screen. He is currently filming "Chaos Walking," an upcoming sci-fi action-thriller film directed by Doug Liman.
In it, the “Scream Queens” star plays David "Davy" Prentiss Jr., the Mayor's son (Mads Mikkelsen) who is extremely jealous of his father’s mentorship of Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland). The film is set to open in theaters on March 1, 2019.
