Fans of Dan Amboyer are in for a treat. The American actor, best known for playing HRH Prince William of Wales in Hallmark Channel's 2011 television movie “William & Catherine: A Royal Romance,” has come out as gay and revealed he secretly married his long-time partner, Eric P. Berger.
In an interview with People magazine, Dan Amboyer spoke openly about his sexuality for the first time. The 31-year-old says he has been in a relationship with Eric P. Berger since early 2000s, but kept it a secret from the public because he was advised to do so.
“Being a young actor in the industry, I had a lot of people who strongly advised me to stay quiet,” he admitted.
"That was hard to live with."
Dan Amboyer says it was difficult for him to announce he is gay, but he found strength in himself, his long-time partner, close friends, and family. He was also inspired by married couple Zachary John Quinto and Miles Thomas McMillan, and Nico Tortorella’s advocate for gender fluidity, saying “I think the more open actors can be the less stigma there will be attached, which will be a positive thing moving forward.”
When did Dan Amboyer and Eric Berger start dating?
Eric Berger, who is a financial planner, has revealed he met the "Blacklist: Redemption" actor on an online dating site in early 2000s. They were friends for more than a year, before making things official in 2008.
After nearly a decade of dating, Eric Berger and Dan Amboyer tied the knot in a traditional ceremony at the Marble Collegiate Church on Saturday, Oct. 07. Their wedding was attended by several television personalities including Patina Renea Miller, Tara Strong, Paloma Guzmán, Darren Star and Pearl Liaison.
After the wedding, the newlywed held the reception at the 632 on Hudson in New York City.
While there, they pulled out all the stops for their first dance, which was choreographed by the award-winning choreographer, Jeffrey Page.
‘A Very Merry Toy Store’
After playing Longman in S. Craig Zahler's "Brawl in Cell Block 99," Dan Amboyer will star next in the highly anticipated film, “A Very Merry Toy Store.” No details were given about the character he is playing, but the actor will reportedly star opposite Tara Strong.
“A Very Merry Toy Store” is set to open up in theaters this holiday season. While waiting for its arrival, fans can check out Dan Amboyer as Thad and Chad Weber in the popular comedy-drama television series, "Younger."
