On the fourth week of competition on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess were the third couple to be eliminated. They followed Debbie Gibson and Alan Bursten who were the second to be eliminated. Barbara Corcoran and Keo Motsepe were the first to leave the ballroom dance floor.

'Most Memorable Year' episode

The "Most Memorable Year" theme was a night of emotion for all 11 couples. There were lots of tears from everyone, including those from the 43-year-old father of four, Derek Fisher. Before the Los Angeles Lakers standout danced a jazz routine to Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up," he shared a touching story about his most memorable year.

Fisher said his most memorable year was 2007 when his 10-month-old baby was diagnosed with cancer in her left eye. He and his family had to make the decision to either have the eye removed or take a chance on saving it with experimental surgery. He gave up a $20 million contract with the NBA to take care of his daughter, Tatum. Today, she has half the vision in her eye. The 11-year-old girl and her twin brother, Drew, were in the audience to see their father dance and earn a score of 23 out of 30. Viewers witnessed the emotion on Tatum's face as she watched the dance her father dedicated to her.

Fisher's reaction to elimination

During Fisher's remarks after finding out he and Sharna had been eliminated, he had only kind things to say about his experience.

He indicated that being on the show helped him grow in many ways. He summed up his time with Sharna as a time of growth as a man and as a person. He concluded that he is happy and proud to have been a part of something bigger than himself. His partner echoed the same sentiments. Sharna said she was proud of Derek, and she recognized the progress he made during the time he was there.

Other couples

Derek and Sharna were in jeopardy along with Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd. This is the second time they had been in jeopardy. Peta is a two-time Mirror Ball champion. Even though she prepared deaf model Nyle DiMarco in Season 22 to win, she and Nick are having a hard time getting good scores. Perhaps next week will be better for them because this week they received the lowest score of only 22 out of 30.

The other Fisher on the show received the highest score of the night. Jordan Fisher and his partner, Lindsay Arnold, performed a contemporary dance that earned them a score of 29, just one point away from being a perfect score. They received a 10 from judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Head judge Len Goodman is the one who gave them a 9. However, the couple was thrilled with their score.
