Derek Fisher and his partner Sharna Burgess fell short with their performance of "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield on Monday. The fan-favorite couple earned a score of 23 out of 30 points for the jazz set, making them the third duo to be eliminated from the competition.
But despite his early departure from the dance show, Derek Fisher has nothing but gratitude to express on how "Dancing With The Stars" has taught him lessons that changed him into becoming a better version of himself. Speaking with Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews after the elimination, the former NBA hotshot said he is happy and proud of what he was able to showcase on the program.

"Growth. Growth as a man, growth as a person. Just learning to continue to be a part of something bigger than yourself," he said, according to an ET Online report. "I am forever changed by it, and I look forward to a bright future."
The 43-year-old athlete was also commended by his dance pro partner for showing another side of him in the dance competition. "I know that your entire career was about internalizing emotion and not showing it out there on the court, but the journey you went on in sharing your emotion and your life with everybody," Sharna Burgess said.
Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess followed the couples Barbara Corcoran-Keo Motsepe and Debbie Gibson-Alan Bersten who were eliminated during the second week of the dance competition.
Meanwhile, Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold almost earned a perfect score for their performance of "Take Me Home" by Us the Duo during the "Most Memorable Year" episode on Monday. They were followed by Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy who garnered a score of 27 out of 30 points after they showcased a foxtrot set of "I Lived" by One Republic.
Maks returns to 'DWTS' stage after sitting out last week
The "Dancing with the Stars" viewers also saw the comeback of Maks Chmerkovskiy following his absence to attend to some personal issues. His no-show last week, however, has fueled rumors that the pro was having issues with his celebrity counterpart.
Vanessa Lachey, on the other hand, performed with Alan Bersten while Maks Chmerkovskiy was not around.
The former beauty queen has also remained silent on her partner's absence last week.
A source claimed the "Dancing with the Stars" duo had been "bickering" since they started working for the new season. Another affiliate, however, denied this claim and reassured that the two are getting along on and off the camera.
