In this week's episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 5, the show opens with Detective Jake Peralta back in the precinct after he and Rosa were wrongly accused of a crime that they didn't commit. Now that they're back, the show did a great job at easing him back into the force. Over the course of the past four seasons, Jake showed character development, from being an immature detective to being someone who's responsible and worthy enough to date the very Type, A Amy. He's also learned so much from Captain Holt, who he considers a father figure.

It's, therefore, heartwarming to see how Jake initiated "Freedom Feast," a Thanksgiving-like get together for his crew at the 99th precinct. Jake, who used to hate Thanksgiving get-togethers because his dad was never around, was the first to invite the crew to an exciting lunch filled with burgers and fries, turkey, and orange soda.

Jake relegated to desk duty

In this week's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5, Jake convinces Captain Holt to give him an evaluation. Jake eventually gets a suspect, who he has second thoughts about because they didn't get any physical evidence. He lets him go, only to find out that he was truly guilty. Jake explains that he should be suspended because he wasn't ready to be on the field again because of his hesitations to put a possibly innocent man in jail.

He admits, "It feels a lot harder for me to put another human being in prison after experiencing it myself. It's really horrible." He also said that he wanted to get back on the field to become the "old" Jake, but he realizes that he's not quite there yet, or if he ever will be.

Rosa breaks up with Pimento

Rosa realizes that something is going on with Pimento, so she decides to investigate.

Terry, whose memories of his Japanese ex-girlfriend cheating on him, urges her to catch Pimento in the act of cheating, while Amy remains the voice of reason, but Rosa insists on trailing Pimento. When Rosa confronts him the following day, he says in Spanish that the woman he met up at the restaurant was his Spanish teacher and that he was learning the language to impress Rosa's father.

Rosa still breaks up with Pimento because she felt stuck in her life and wanted to move forward. Terry apologizes for influencing her to think that Pimento was cheating. Pimento doesn't take it well and goes screaming in the rooftop towards the end of this week's episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5.

Next week, the much awaited Halloween episode will air, and the squad will have to figure out the trickster amongst them in the Halloween Heist. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 airs on FOX every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.
