"One Tree Hill's" Hilarie Burton first made an appearance on "Grey's Anatomy" season 9 as Dr. Lauren Boswell and Arizona Robbins' (Jessica Capshaw) love interest. Now, Shondaland is trailing the same path again by taking in One Tree Hill alum Bethany Joy Lenz. According to E Online, Lenz' role is being kept under wraps but leaked information says she will be named "Jenny."
Bethany Lenz' arrival came shortly after Martin Henderson's exit from the show. Henderson played the role of Dr. Nathan Riggs and Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) love interest.
It is not known whether Lenz' character will have anything to do with Riggs' but expect her to make an appearance this season.
Another 'One Tree Hill' alum on 'Grey's Anatomy'
Bethany Lenz' former "One Tree Hill" cast, Hilarie Burton appeared on "GA" season 9 as a craniofacial surgeon working closely with Arizona Robbins. Dr. Boswell's personality is a mix of playful and flirty disposition unfortunately to the married Dr. Robbins. She succeeds in seducing Arizona, something that resulted in a one night stand that was soon discovered by Arizona's wife Callie (Sara Ramirez).
Dr. Boswell has been open about her feelings towards Arizona, but was immediately stopped from making another mistake. Hilarie Burton's role in "Grey's Anatomy" is quite the fiery one.
With Bethany Joy Lenz' character being kept secret, for now, fans are wondering whether she will play the role of a doctor or something else.
Shondaland actors who left Grey's
Meanwhile, the previous season of "Grey's Anatomy" showed the exit of Jerrika Hinton and although we don't take this as a pattern, the show's main characters seem to leave one-by-one.
Executive producer Shonda Rhimes seems to find a way to add new characters like Dr. Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominzcyk) and Dr. Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato).
Shonda Rhimes is happy they were able to create a great story for Martin Henderson's character. The actor is not new to working with Shondaland and has hinted on being open to making a cameo on "Grey's Anatomy."
In his interview with Deadline, Henderson said: "I would never close the door.
In my mind, it’s been left open-ended enough. This is the third time that Shonda and I have worked together. I think providing an exit for the character where there’s a possibility for him to return is always nice."
Watch "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 every Thursday at 8 PM on ABC.
