Last season ended with a big fight as Warren, Addy, Doc, and the rest of the team attempted to save Lucy from a ruthless assassin known as "The Man" who was hired to bring her to Zona. The plan didn't go so well, and the season finale wrapped up with a brutal cliffhanger as the team found themselves in a deadly situation.

Murphy and Warren experience life in Zona, a zombie-free world for the rich and famous

Based on a new video clip shared by the "Z Nation" Facebook page, season 4 begins with a big time jump of two years, and some team members have undergone a few major changes.

Both Murphy and Warren look to be fully recovered from their injuries after their violent showdown with The Man, and they are both in Zona.

Murphy looks completely normal as he shows Warren around, but for some reason her hair is now platinum blonde. She is also prone to having strange dreams that could be prophetic in some way. Her dream of a strange Black Rainbow and flesh-eating rain drives Warren and Murphy to escape Zona.

Eventually, they join up with other members of the team that are traveling toward a northern outpost. Although the situation seems dire for this motley but determined crew, they always find a way to pull together.

They will have 13 episodes to find one another, reveal what happened to Lucy and The Man, and explain why is Addy now sporting an eye patch.

New mission leads team into dangerous new territory

Warren's dream sends the unlikely heroes on a strange new quest filled with mystery and plenty of danger, especially when they encounter creatures called MAD-Z's that seem to be unstoppable and can't be killed.

During their travels, they will find themselves in the middle of an even worse Zompocalypse, where they will battle Jugalo Zombies and according to The Futon Critic, "find the Zombified President of the United States - or at least his thumb."

What this means exactly remains to be seen as the season unfolds.

The previous season had a darker overall tone than previous seasons, and based on what was revealed in the video clip, the new season will continue down that same route.

The odds are definitely stacked against the group of friends and survivors, and although the previous season ended badly, hopefully everyone will emerge from season 4 relatively unscathed.
