Who knew a workplace comedy could be so devastating? "Superstore" season 3 returned this week with some shocking revelations. For one, Jonah (Ben Feldman) was left homeless after the hurricane that threatened to kill everyone in Cloud 9 had torn down his apartment.
This week's premiere saw him hoping to find a temporary place to stay in Glenn, Marcus, or Garrett's homes. After much reluctance, Garrett did give in, and a big smile dawned on Jonah's scruffy face. Another revelation is that Jeff may not have received Mateo's (Nico Santos) voicemail and declaration of love amidst the hurricane.
But the biggest shocker of the season premiere was Amy (America Ferrera) admitting to Jonah that she and her husband Adam were getting divorced.
Amy sexually propositions Jonah
In this week's "Superstore" season 3 premiere, Amy avoided Jonah like a plague until they were forced to pick up a couple of Minion costumes and wear them for the Cloud 9 grand re-opening. The two got some alone time, during which they spoke about the kiss. An upset Amy told Jonah, "We kissed, and now everything's awkward and loaded and I don't know how to be around you. Is that the conversation you wanna have?" when he kept pressing about talking about their kiss. Later, after finally getting into their Minion costumes, the pair have a talk in which Amy admitted that she was getting divorced.
She joked, "Do you wanna have sex?" To which Jonah was left speechless, later admitting he was blushing.
"Nobody knows where Brett is"
The premiere of "Superstore" season 3 brought about an omen delivered by Dina (Lauren Ash), who exclaimed, "Nobody knows where Brett is!" The bad news is that he did not survive the hurricane.
He was last seen in the previous season finale, facing the storm while herding the shopping carts back into the storm. A press release published by SpoilerTV indicated that the next episode is titled "Brett Is Dead," and will feature a memorial service for their fallen Cloud 9 employee. Brett was played by Jon Miyahara and was often portrayed as a stoic person who never really spoke up until the hurricane hit.
It's sad to know that he did not survive, but it will be interesting to see how other secondary characters like Sandra (Kaliko Kauahi) are carrying on their storylines. The latest from Sandra is that her boyfriend is in a coma after getting hit by a mailbox during the hurricane. "Superstore" season 3 returns this October 5 with a new episode.
