A new trailer for “Supergirl” season 3 has made its way online. It has now been revealed that Calista Flockhart will be reprising her role as Cat Grant in the next installment, as the new White House Press Secretary.
Everything you need to know about the trailer
According to a report by Cinema Blend, at 0:33 mark during the trailer, Calista is seen donning a sophisticated look standing right in front of a podium. She can be seen surrounded by reporters from all sides, as she says, “Go ahead, fire away.” The last time Calista appeared on the show was during its second season.
On the 21st episode, it was revealed that Cat and President Olivia Marsden were close friends from college. It still hasn’t been clarified whether Olivia continues to be POTUS in the upcoming episodes as well.
Flockhart’s eventual return had been kept under wraps since the filming of season 3 began, a post by Hollywood Reporter acknowledged. With Cat’s return, it appears that the show will be focused on national and global political matters in Arrowverse. The trailer also went on to feature Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima).
Their relationship seems to be blossoming with each passing episode. Earlier last year, the show-runners announced that even though Lima (Maggie) will be a part of season 3, she won’t be occupying a lot of screen time.
Fans began speculating that this was a result of something related to “Sanvers.”
Characters and the plot
The latest trailer is believed to serve as a promotion to Cat Grant’s character. She is intelligent, witty and can easily rile up enthusiasm among Arrowverse’s citizens. Grant is also outspoken. Thus, she stands the chance of being fired if she says something wrong.
Another character named Kara will also be recurring throughout the third season. She will be seen taking occasional trips to the White House since Grant is back.
The show’s creators, Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner had been hinting Grant’s arrival since July last year. During the Comic Con event, which was held in San Diego, they were asked whether Flockhart will reprise her role.
At that time, they did not provide any confirmation as such.
According to a report by IBTimes, most of the scenes have been shot in Los Angeles and Vancouver. This apparently became an issue for Flockhart, as she did not want to move with her family to Vancouver. The producers gave her the freedom to walk out, but she chose not to. Even though she will be seen appearing on season 3, there will be very key scenes that she may end up being a part of.
