British singer and songwriter Sam Smith is back with a new single titled “Too Good at Goodbyes.” It is a track off his upcoming album, which he announced to release by Christmas 2017.

Too Good at Goodbyes” is the first song from an album since the release of his 2014 studio album, “In The Lonely Hour.” Just like his previous songs, Smith’s new single featured a heartbreaking moment in a failed romance. A group of Gospel Singers also performed some parts of the lyrics as the music intensified.

Smith told The Huffington Post that the song is about an unsuccessful relationship, with a first-person character who learned and became proficient in “getting dumped.” He added that he felt that the new single has set the tone of his next projects since he laid low in the music scene for a few years.

Part of the lyrics of “Too Good at Goodbyes” read, “But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry / And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry / And every time you walk out, the less I love you / Baby, we don’t stand a chance.”

Upcoming projects

Smith is also going to perform in his upcoming shows in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin, The Huffington Post reported. There are no official details yet about the exact venues of his performances.

With regards to his album, the male singer has been posting some teasers on social media. Last September 7, he shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the recording of his new studio album. In 2015, he was chosen to perform one of the songs in the movie “Spectre.” The song was titled “Writing’s on the Wall.”

His 2014 studio album sold more than 12 million pieces worldwide, and also paved the way for a win during the Grammy awards, the report added.

The album will have two versions, one of them will have 10 music tracks and the other will have 14 tracks.

Award-winning singer

Sam Smith was catapulted to fame when he became the featured performer in the song “Latch” by British duo Disclosure, back in October 2012.

He was nominated and won the 2014 Brit Critics’ Choice Award.

He was famous for his songs “Lay Me Down,” “Money On My Mind,” “Stay With Me,” “I’m Not The Only One” and “Like I Can,” his official website stated. These songs have earned the top spots in the hit charts both in the United States and in his home country in the United Kingdom.

He has won a total of four Grammy awards in February 2015. These awards were from the categories Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
