Lisa Rinna is returning to her soap opera roots. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star and QVC pitchwoman is making a return to her acting career with an upcoming stint on “Days of Our Lives,” the daytime drama she starred on for over two decades. According to Entertainment Weekly, Rinna will reprise her role as Billie Reed on the NBC soap early next year. Lisa Rinna has already started taping scenes for her “DOOL” return and fans of the show can’t wait to find out what brings Billie back.
From Beverly Hills drama to daytime drama
There is no word from “Days of Our Lives” production on the reason for the resurrection of the character that Lisa Rinna has played on and off since 1992.
The Billie character was last seen on “Days of Our Lives” in 2013 when she left the soap’s town of Salem to move to Europe. The following year, Lisa Rinna traded real acting for the diva drama on the “Real Housewives” franchise. Rinna and her husband, Harry Hamlin, made headlines on the Bravo reality show after “RHOBH” veteran Kim Richards teased that she knew a secret about their marriage.
After a five-year absence from “Days of Our Lives,” Lisa Rinna seems to be focused on getting back to her acting career. In addition to her NBC soap gig, EW recently revealed that Lisa will guest star on the final season of ABC’s “The Middle” later this year. Rinna will play Tammy Brooks, the snobby, rich mother of Lexie (Daniela Bobadilla), Axl Heck’s (Charlie McDermott) girlfriend.
Anything for money
Lisa Rinna has not done a lot of acting since signing on as a regular on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in 2014. The bulk of Rinna’s acting resume is devoted to her 20 years on “Days of Our Lives,” but longtime fans know Lisa Rinna won’t turn down an acting job. In fact, Rinna previously revealed that her highest paying acting job was for a commercial for adult diapers.
According to Radar Online, back in 2012, Lisa Rinna banked a whopping $2 million from the Depends Silhouette for Women diaper ad. At the time, Rinna revealed that she agreed to do the commercial because she’s “ a champion for positive self-image for women,” but rumors swirled that she knew she’s be perpetually teased for the embarrassing ad so made sure she received a huge paycheck for it. Lisa Rinna laughed along with her critics—all the way to the bank.
“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC, while “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” returns to Bravo this fall.
