It looks like “Orange Is The New Black” Season 6 will be joining other television shows that feature Donald Trump’s win as the U.S. President. As there are swirling rumors that the comedy-drama web series’ new installment will be different in comparison to its predecessor, it might take a new route by featuring the new leader.
It has been said that the previous season was not as strong compared to its previous ones. Although it was described as poignant, continuing just days after Poussey Washington’s (Samira Wiley) death in the fourth chapter, it still lacked something that fans were looking for.
The reason for the previous season’s dip
In an interview with the New Yorker, executive producer Jenji Kohan revealed what problem they have encountered in the previous installment and how they could make it up on the show this year.
"We had lost a bunch of original writers,” the 48-year-old producer revealed to the magazine.
Kohan and co-producer Tara Herrmann admitted that the changes in the writers’ room affected “OISTNB” Season 5. “It wasn't anyone's fault,” she insisted. According to her, what happened was just a new dynamic.
She explained that people have been attached to the television show’s characters as their fans and not really as their creators. So, they might have different points of views.
She then cleared up that some of the series plots’ were “fan fiction,” thus it was far different from real life.
Redeeming ‘OITNB’
“Orange is the New Black” Season 6 will try to redeem itself by featuring the real-life problems of President Donald Trump’s administration, Christian Today reported.
Jenji Kohan teased that just like in the fourth installment, where the Black Lives Matter movement had been depicted; the new season might reference the new president’s leadership.
However, the television show’s new storyline will still focus on the prison.
Characters’ return
Blastng News earlier reported that “Orange is the New Black” Season 6 might be featuring a major overhaul.
The new chapter’s production already started in July, but Adrienne C. Moore ,who plays the role of Black Cindy, revealed that they actually have no idea about their future on the show until they receive their scripts.
The television show’s major stars are expected to reprise their roles while others’ fates remain to be revealed. “OITNB” sixth season is set to be released in 2018 on Netflix.
