“Good Morning America” on Monday officially announced the list of nominees for the 51st Annual Country Music Awards, an awards show that honors the best performances in the country music industry. Miranda Lambert led the list, garnering a total of five nominations.
Meanwhile, the morning show announced Keith Urban and Little Big Town each getting four nominations. Apart from other events such as the recently concluded MTV Video Music Awards, the annual CMA Awards are paying tribute to a particular genre in the music world.
The announcements were led by Lauren Alaina, Brothers Osborne and Dustin Lynch during Monday’s episode of “Good Morning America.” The 51st Annual CMA Awards will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
The two are veterans on the show, since they have hosted the event for 10 times already, E! Online reported.
Miranda Lambert
Lambert was exalted after hearing the news of her multiple nominations. She turned to Instagram to share her insights, saying that she celebrated the good news over coffee with seven of her best friends.
“I’m so thankful. Especially after an emotional week in my home state. Country Music and animals is are my absolute life and my heart,” she posted. The female country singer also thanked her fans, family, friends and her hometown Nashville for all the support that she has been receiving.
She is mostly known for her songs, “Me and Charlie Talking,” “Kerosene,” “Famous in a Small Town,” “Heart Like Mine,” and “Baggage Claim.” She has won several awards for her album and songs, including a Grammy Award for her fifth album titled “Platinum.”
She was the spouse of male country singer and “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton.
In 2015, the two went through struggles in their relationship and ended up divorcing in June of that year.
Taylor Swift
Despite her recent change of image and some changes in the rhythms of her songs, Taylor Swift still could be considered as a female country superstar. Her first popular songs fell under the genre.
The 51st Annual Country Music Awards also nominated Swift for a song she wrote, titled “Better Man.” The piece was nominated for the Song of the Year category.
The rest of the nomination table includes Luke Bryan and Keith Urban for Entertainer of the Year, Lady Antebellum’s “Heart Break” for Album of the Year, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert for Female Vocalist of the Year, and Thomas Rhett for Male Vocalist of the Year.
They join other renowned musical artists in various categories. The awarding event will be aired on ABC on November 8 at 8 p.m.
