Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are the epitome of a happy couple. After they found love in the ballroom, the "Dancing with the Stars" pair welcomed their first child who has become the ray of sunshine and source of happiness for their growing family.

According to earlier reports, Peta Murgatroyd gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, named Shai Aleksander, on January 4 at around 5:00 in the morning. The dancing couple later confirmed the good news through social media and described the moment as "the best thing that ever happened" to them.

Maks and Peta and their journey to parenthood

Eight months after Baby Shai came into their lives, the "Dancing With The Stars" couple still could not find the right words to describe the feeling of becoming parents. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the two talked about how their lives changed over the past eight months.

"Every day just gets better and better," Peta Murgatroyd mused. "I'm so in love with him."

She even felt like that their son has changed husband for the better. Maksim Chmerkovskiy, on the other hand, recalled what he did after Baby Shai was born.

He confessed that the arrival of his child has made him realize the importance of showing love to parents. In fact, the male "Dancing with the Stars" pro immediately called his mother to apologize for failing to call her back more often.

He went on to gush about Peta Murgatroyd and admitted that he could not imagine himself having kids with anyone but her. "But would I wish for maybe having met her earlier and having had kids earlier? Absolutely," he added.

The "Dancing with the Stars" couple acknowledged that the journey to parenthood is not an easy road to take.

They also believe that there is never a perfect time for anyone to become a parent.

How romance started for the 'DWTS' duo

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd first met as cast members of "Burn the Floor" in 2009. The blonde initially thought her co-star was arrogant until she got to know him while working for the Broadway production.

Both of them were dating at that time, hence, they remained friends for several years before they became an item in 2012. But just like any other couple, the two faced some challenges in their relationship which even led to their separation.

The dancing couple eventually gave their romance a second chance until Maksim Chmerkovskiy formally popped the question and knelt before Peta Murgatroyd after a dance performance in December 2015. On July 8, the love birds finally said their vows in Long Island's Oheka Castle.
