Taylor Swift isn't the only pop artist making a comeback. Canadian singer Avril Lavigne, who rose to fame in 2002 with her song "Complicated," gave an update about her sixth studio record. The 32-year-old, eight-time Grammy Award nominee released a self-titled record in 2013, which was co-produced by her husband at the time, Chad Kroeger. Unsurprisingly, the record had a Nickelback sound and feel. In 2014, Lavigne struggled with Lyme Disease, but she came back stronger than ever. In an interview with Good Morning America, she explained how it took her eight months to find a doctor who was an expert on the disease to finally treat her.
She kept a low profile during her recovery, but released a single titled "Fly" for the Special Olympics World Games in 2015. She explained at the time, "It’s just about inner strength and courage. This song took on a whole new meaning for me while I was sick, which was pretty magical."
Singer posts an update on social media
Avril Lavigne took to Twitter on Friday to share an update on her highly anticipated sixth studio record. The "Sk8r Boi" singer first thanked her fans and supporters for their patience, as it has been almost four years since she released a full length record. She admitted, "It's been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys!! You only deserve my best effort and that's what I'm going to deliver!" Earlier this year, she took to Instagram to share that she signed on to the BMG record label, under which she will release her sixth studio record.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the artist admitted that the writing process for her next record was "therapeutic and empowering." She assured fans that her new music is "coming from a very honest place" and hopes that it will serve as an inspiration for many.

Singer possibly dating a producer
Aside from working on her new record, Avril Lavigne is also busy finding new love.
The singer, who divorced her first husband, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley in 2009 and separated from second husband, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger in 2015, is reportedly dating producer J.R. Rotem. According to Just Jared, the two were spotted holding hands in West Hollywood, California after what looked like a date night. Rotem is a producer who has worked with artists such as Rihanna, JoJo, Leona Lewis, Vanessa Hudgens, Anastacia, Nicki Minaj, Fall Out Boy, Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony, and Gwen Stefani, among many others. It is yet unclear if he plays any role in Lavigne's upcoming sixth record.
