Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie has officially confirmed that she will be returning to portray the title role in the sequel of “Maleficent,” Deadline reported. The live-action movie is a spin-off from Walt Disney’s original tale, “Sleeping Beauty.”

She recently attended the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, where she confirmed the news of her return in the Disney live-action film. She also shared some updates about the much talked about sequel to the villain-inspired movie.

She told Deadline that they are currently working on a script that will tell a strong narrative.

Earlier, Jolie’s participation in the film remained open-ended because of her other projects. Now that she herself confirmed her return for the movie, it only makes the whole production much more exciting.

There is no confirmation yet as to whether Elle Fanning, the actress who reprised the role of Princess Aurora, will be back to do the sequel. Likewise, the actor who portrayed Prince Phillip, Brenton Thwaites has also not been confirmed. Thwaites was recently on the shortlist of actors to portray the role of Batman’s sidekick Robin in the upcoming live-action series, “Titans.”

Return to acting

Angelina Jolie has received various accolades for her portrayal of the classic Disney villain in “Maleficent.” The movie was nominated for Best Achievement in Costume Design at the Academy Awards.

The actress won the prize for Best Performance in various award-giving bodies internationally, such as in Russia and Brazil.

During the event in Colorado, the actress also shared about her future acting projects in the middle of some challenges she has been facing with her personal life. She recently said in a Harper’s Bazaar report, “When I feel it is time for me to go back to work, I’ll be able to go back to work.

I’ve been needed at home.”

On singlehood

Angelina Jolie recently shared about her life as a single mother in her recent interview with The Sunday Telegraph. She said she is not enjoying the life of singlehood, and that there is “nothing nice about it.”

She has been separated from her husband Brad Pitt, with whom she has three children, since September 2016.

They also adopted three other children from various locations.

“I am now the breadwinner for the family, so it is time,” she said during the Colorado event. She added that she is excited to return as the villain of the Disney princess, Sleeping Beauty. There are also other movie projects lined up for this award-winning actress.
