The popular FX series,"American Horror Story," returned for its seventh season on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Episode 1, titled “Election Night,” showcased characters' responses to the US Presidential Election of 2016. The show creator Ryan Murphy has already cleared the fact that “American Horror Story: Cult” was inspired by the 2016 election. It is not an attack on the current US President Donald Trump. The show stars actor Evan Peters in the role of Kai Anderson and actress Sarah Paulson plays the character of Ally Mayfair-Richards, who suffers from several phobias.

Episode 1 recap

The “American Horror Story: Cult” season 7 episode 1 opened with a scene that showed Ally and her wife, Ivy (Alison Pill), watch the news of Trump winning the 2016 election. Ally and Ivy have a son named Oz. Kai's sister Winter Anderson (Billie Lourd) is Oz’s nanny. In episode 1, Winter asked Oz whether he knows anything about his biological father or if Ally or Ivy has given birth to him. This hints that the season 7 will revolve around the identity of Oz's biological parents. It is even speculated that Kai could be Oz's biological father.

Episode 2 titled ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’

In episode 2 of “American Horror Story: Cult," Kai Anderson will pay an unexpected visit to Ally Mayfair-Richards.

After the first episode, it has become pretty clear that Kai has some kind of an obsession with Ally. In the trailer, Kai can be seen in front of Ally’s house asking if he can come in and have a glass of water. Ally will refuse Kai which will prompt him to shake the grilled bars on her door in a threatening manner. Notably, when Ally and her partner Ivy first met Kai, he spilled coffee on them.

The trailer shows Ally seeing clowns everywhere. Dr. Vincent (Cheyenne Jackson) tells Ivy that he thinks that Ally is developing agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is the fear of situations that might cause panic or helplessness.

Ally’s phobia will begin to intensify in the upcoming episode. Ivy slaps Ally and tells her that she isn’t the person whom she married. Elsewhere, Winter will ask Oz to tell her about his fears. It seems unclear as to why is Winter trying to get closer to Oz.
