Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi were never a match made in heaven. Despite their fairy tale romance that played out in front of ABC’s cameras, a source close to “The Bachelor” couple told People that Nick and Vanessa were a “mismatch” from the start. Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi recently announced that they have ended their engagement just five months after his proposal to her aired on “The Bachelor” finale.
“The Bachelor” insider revealed that Vanessa is much more fun and outgoing than Nick, who is an introvert and doesn’t feel comfortable in front of large groups of people.
While Vanessa quit her teaching job and moved from Canada to California to be with Nick after his season of “The Bachelor” wrapped, they were never able to come together as a stable couple. The insider said Nick and Vanessa’ split was not the result of a big fight, but just the fact that the relationship wasn’t working for either of them.
Nick and Vanessa were never a solid couple
In June, a source told Us Weekly that Viall and Grimaldi had a hard time getting on the same page and that they argued often. At the time, the insider said Viall and Grimaldi’s relationship was not “solid" and would never last.
Fans of “The Bachelor” franchise may have had a clue that there was trouble in paradise. Ahead of their breakup, Nick and Vanessa had not started making any wedding plans.
In addition, many fans wondered if Nick Viall was just looking for fame the whole time. “The Bachelor” marked Viall’s fourth time on an ABC dating show, and he capped that off with a stint on “Dancing with the Stars.”
A matchmaker weighs in
“Millionaire Matchmaker” stars Patti Stanger, a person who has seen it all, has her own opinion on Nick and Vanessa's split.
Stanger says Vanessa was right “in that age group” where many women want to get married and have babies, but that at age 37 Viall needs to grow up. Stanger also said she thinks Nick may have got caught up in the fame game after riding the wave on “Dancing With the Stars” and getting paid for other personal appearances. Stanger thinks the fact that Nick said the couple was “taking it slow” with their wedding planning should have been a big red flag.
“You just gave her a ring,” Stanger said of Viall. “What was that about? Either you want her or you don't, or you're using this for fame."
Nick Viall's split from Vanessa Grimaldi comes just a few months after fellow "Bachelor" star Ben Higgins called it quits with Lauren Bushnell.
