The couple announced the news recently but have not commented further on the nature of their breakup. The couple dated for just over two years before deciding to call it quits
According to the Daily Mail, actors Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood have decided to call it quits in their relationship.
The pair had been dating for two and a half years and had even adopted two dogs together. Hyland and Sherwood were both very vocal about their love for one another through social media, though it appears that neither of them has shared photographs of the other since April and May of this year.
In a report by Entertainment Tonight, a source who was close to the couple announced that the decision to breakup with one another was a mutual one. The source claimed that while it was a difficult decision, the couple realized that their romantic relationship had run its course and that there was no point in continuing on with their relationship. The source also stated that the couple still admires each other very much and remain close friends.
The couple first met back in 2014 on the set of the movie "Vampire Academy" and quickly fell for one another. They began dating and Dominic Sherwood spoke highly of Sarah Hyland -- stating that she inspired him to be a better version of himself. He claimed that this was the thing that made him fall in love with her, though it appears that this was not enough to keep their relationship going.
Hyland appears to be taking the breakup particularly hard
According to Hollywood Life, Sarah Hyland was spotted for the first time since her breakup with Dominic Sherwood and she looked downcast. The stars recently announced their breakup and Hyland posted to social media claiming that she deserved Taco Bell after the events of the day.
The couple celebrated their two-year anniversary in February of 2017 and Hyland recently starred on her ex-boyfriend's show "Shadowhunters." Hyland will have a recurring guest role in the series as the character of the Seelie Queen and there is no doubt that this will be difficult for both as they navigate post-split.
Neither Hyland nor Sherwood have commented further.
