Actors Melissa Benoist, Lili Reinhart, and Camila Mendes were all photographed together recently on the set of the hit series "Riverdale." The director of the "Riverdale" released this photo of the three actors and teased that there might be a crossover episode happening. However, these rumors have since been proven false and fans have been left extremely disappointed.
The director of 'Riverdale' has teased a potential cross over
According to Entertainment Online, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has teased that there may be a potential cross over between the shows "Riverdale" and "Supergirl." The director has teased fans with a post on social media, which shows the character of Supergirl sitting in a booth at Pops with none other than Betty and Veronica from "Riverdale."
Beneath the photograph of the actors, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also commented that someone had dropped into the set for a visit.
He stated that worlds were colliding and asked if a potential crossover episode was in the works. The question was rhetorical in nature and meant to tease the audience of the possibility of Supergirl visiting the gang in "Riverdale."
Fans have been freaking out ever since the director of "Riverdale" posted the photograph and the fact that the image was taken through the lens of a rolling camera makes the audience even more hopeful that the crossover will be taking place. However, this is not the first time that Aguirre-Sacasa has taken to social media to tease the "Riverdale" audience and some fans are skeptical about the potential cross over.
It appears that Aguirre-Sacasa simply wanted to tease fans about the potential episode
According to Refinery, there is no concrete evidence that a crossover episode between the two shows "Riverdale" and "Supergirl" will be taking place. While Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has excited fans by his post on social media it appears that the word of the director cannot be taken too seriously.
It has been confirmed that both series are filmed in Vancouver and that this is not the first time that the actors have been photographed together on set. The cast of "Riverdale" and "Supergirl" all took a jet to the San Diego Comic Convention together and it appears that Melissa Benoist may have simply called in on her break to say hello to some of her friends.
However, the possibility of a crossover episode has not been completed destroyed. The "Archie Comics" which "Riverdale" is based on does intertwine with some other series out there such as "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." While fans might not see Supergirl in "Riverdale" there is a possibility that a certain witch might make her way to town.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has not commented any further on the post, which he released to social media, and fans are disappointed by the director’s tease.
