In a sudden twist of events, it will be John Cena vs. Baron Corbin at "SummerSlam" 2017. This new feud was a result of the events that went down in the Aug. 1 edition of "WWE SmackDown."
For the benefit of those who failed to catch it, Cena was up against Shinsuke Nakamura in a no. 1 contender’s match. The former WWE NXT champion won the match though his celebration was interrupted by The Lone Wolf. As he was giving Shinsuke a beatdown, Cena came to his aid and thus the storyline was made.
Cena vs. Corbin a backup plan
Even before the Cena vs. Nakamura match, there were indications that the 40-year-old may end up losing to Nakamura.
A day before that match, WWE.com announced that Cena would be cast in the “Transformers” spinoff “Bumblebee," meaning he is set to leave the WWE once more.
With the win, Nakamura is set to face heavyweight champion Jinder Mahal at "SummerSlam" 2017. It would be a golden opportunity for the Japanese wrestler though he may have to deal with outside forces getting in the way. For Cena, his upcoming match may be his last one before parting from the WWE scene. However, there may be one person present at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn – Nikki Bella.
Nikki will be in Brooklyn
Baron Corbin seemed to have generated some buzz, sending off a tweet directed at Cena. Unfortunately, it was not the 16-time champion that responded to his post but Cena’s future wife, Nikki Bella.
And I can't wait to sit front row and see him slap that mouth right off your face!👋🏽👌🏽No one gives & inspires as much as that man does. N

Nikki’s tweet mentioned something about her sitting in the front row. Though there is no official word if she will be there to compete or simply watch, it confirms that she will be back on the WWE scene.
Nikki was last seen at "Wrestlemania 33" where Cena made his in-ring proposal. She has since been out of WWE shows though she has been giving updates via YouTube. With Nikki confirming that she will be at the Barclays Center, the question now is whether she will be returning to active duty. And if so, who will she target?
She could target Charlotte Flair or even Becky Lynch, a monkey wrench tossed in the fray.
Her conditioning is also a concern so it is possible that she could return to action incrementally. She could be involved in tag matches in the meantime until she is ready for singles matches.
Either way, Nikki’s return should be good news for the "WWE SmackDown" roster. She could get involved in the match of her future husband, especially if Corbin gets out of line. A slap to the face at some point could be pivotal, an inadvertent assist to Cena who is due to exit temporarily once more.
