Just one day after Vanessa Grimaldi spoke out about splitting from Nick Viall, he broke his silence and spoke out about their relationship that did not work out. He admits that it was a difficult decision to make, but things were not going well for them, and both of them mutually agreed to call off the engagement. Even so, "The Bachelor" alum says he still loves the woman he was engaged to and they plan to remain friends.

How Nick is coping

The 36-year-old reality star says he is dealing with the broken engagement by spending time with friends and loved ones.

He says it is good that he has friends outside of the Los Angeles area that he can visit. He is going to spend time in Chicago this coming weekend. It will be a good way for him to regroup and stay positive.

Nick's journey

Nick had a history with ABC's "The Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" franchise before Vanessa came into the picture. He first appeared as a contestant on "The Bachelorette" in 2014 when Andi Dorfman was looking for love. It looked very positive for Nick. In fact, he received the first impression rose and ended up as one of the final two, but Andi chose Josh Murray to receive the final rose.

The very next year, Nick appeared on "The Bachelorette" with Kaitlyn Bristowe. Like Dorfman's season, Nick ended up in the very same position at the end when Kaitlyn chose Shawn Booth over him during the final rose ceremony.

It seemed like Nick was really looking for love because he was a contestant on the third season of "Bachelor in Paradise." This time Nick was the one who rejected the woman viewers thought he would propose to. At the final rose ceremony, he told Jen Saviano that he wanted to say he was in love with her, but he couldn't. Therefore, there was no proposal.

Nick became the star of the last season of "The Bachelor" in August 2016 because viewers had gotten used to seeing him and he had become a fan favorite by that time. He had thirty women on his show, instead of the usual twenty-five during previous seasons. In essence, that gave him five more chances.

In the end, the reality star received a fourth engagement ring from Neil Lane jewelry.

This time, he used it when he proposed to Vanessa Grimaldi on the show that aired in March 2017. Last week, the couple posted a joint statement that they had broken their engagement after giving the relationship all they could. One thing for sure is that Nick Viall really tried to find lasting love on ABC's reality dating shows.
